Resume
AuSable Valley Emergency Management, LLC, was formed in January of 2001 by Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Tim London, United States Army (Retired). Tim retired from the U.S. Army in 1994. In 1995, Tim became the Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) for Iosco County, located in Northeast Michigan. Over the next few years, Tim became a Professional Emergency Manager under the criteria set forth by the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management Division. Eventually, Tim assumed the Emergency Management responsibilities for Alcona and Oscoda Counties, becoming the first "contracted" three-county EMC in the State of Michigan. In June of 2004, Tim resigned from his Iosco County position to give himself more time to pursue other activities.

Why should you consider asking AuSable Valley Emergency Management, LLC, for help? First off, make no exception about it - the backbone of this Company is Tim London. Tim's only employee is his wife, Marhea, who is the Company's Office Manager. All other services necessary to accomplish the job are sub-contracted. Tim has a long list of reliable sub-contractors with many years of experience related to Emergency Management.

Although the Emergency Management training Tim received over the years has been very useful, he has always considered the experience of his 27 year Army career the backbone of his expertise. Tim joined the Army in 1967. His first duty assignment was as a Morse Code Radio Operator in Special Forces (Green Berets) in South Vietnam. Tim spent most of his combat tour with III Corps Mobile Strike Force Command (MIKE Force). He left the active duty Army in December of 1970, having served in Vietnam for 18 months. After 2 1/2 years in the Army Reserves, Tim returned to the active duty Army in 1973, where he remained until his retirement in 1994. While in the Army, CSM London - through various training courses and practical experience - became adept at planning and executing major activities, i.e., field training exercises, special events, major training activities, mass tactical parachute jumps, etc. His personal satisfaction at being capable of "putting the right people in the right place at the right time in the right uniform" had a great impact on his ability to become an effective EMC. Tim's U.S. Army assignments included: III Corps Mobile Strike Force Command (MIKE Force), Company A, 5th Special Forces; 82d Airborne Division (Fort Bragg, NC); CENTAG (Germany); Southeast European Command (Italy); Joint Special Operations Command (Fort Bragg); and more. He served as a Morse Code Radio Operator, Radio Teletype Operator, Radio Teletype Team Chief, Radio Section Chief, Company Training Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC), Battalion Training NCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, Communications Center NCOIC, Company Operations Sergeant and Battalion Sergeant Major. CSM London's military  qualifications and recognitions include: Master Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Parachutist Badge, and Special Forces patch. During his career, Tim received many awards. Among them are the Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Bronze Star (3rd Award) and many more.

Having served virtually his entire military career in Combat Communications Units, Tim has a passion for effective communications.

Tim has also been recognized in the State of Michigan on several occasions. The Michigan Emergency Management Association (MEMA) awarded him the Local Coordinator of the Year award in both 1999 and 2002. He was also awarded the Preparedness of the Year award by MEMA in 2002. Additionally, Tim is the recipient of the 2002 Professional Emergency Manager of Year award by the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management Division.
