MEETING CALLED TO ORDER

Tim London called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM

 

A motion to accept October 18 minutes was made by Bob Jacobs and seconded by Bill Deckett.  Motion carried

 

A motion to accept the Agenda with the addition of adding HHW & CHER CAP Committees to New Business was made by Bob Jacobs and seconded by Bill Deckett. Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

None

 

OLD BUSINESS

1.      The CHER-CAP exercise will be at the County Line School in Oscoda on        Sept 26, 2002.  Iosco and Alcona will be involved. 

 

2.   Planning Status on 302 sites, three more sites to be on 302 lists, they are ready to turn in they are ITT, Phone Co and Tip Top Screw.  Also Tawas ITT did a 302 self-referral.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

1.      The 2002 Household Hazard Waste Project.  The Board of Commissioners said to come back with proposal.  We need to get down to planning

 

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ISSUES

  1. The DOJ Grant (Dept of Justice) in late 2000 ask EMC to have a plan for Weapon of Mass Destruction for completion of stage 1 got $1000.  This came into effect after the Trade Center Bombing in1992.  CRT in Alpena would respond here.  The grant could be approximately $26,000.  This could go for Communication Equipment, Decontamination Equipment, Detection Equipment or P.P.E. (Personal Protection Equipment.  Chairman and Committee will make recommendations.  Tim goes to training on this on March 5.  Tim Granda said Communication Equipment would be the most important with 7 Fire Departments in the County.

 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

  1. We need a Committee for Household Hazard Waste to start planning for the pickup.  Bill Carpenter, Bernie Thames, Jim Twarog, Bob Jacobs and Tim London volunteered.
  2.  For the CHER CAP Committee Larry Remain (Alcona), Tim London, Tony Beran.

 

MEMBERS COMMENTS

Jerry Smith working on 302

Tony Beran had a exercise in December at Hospital involved 29 different departments and it went well.

Bernie Thames said need training for first response for hazard spills in plant.

Tim Granda said a big change for first responders, medical to side instead of taking to hospital in a biological event..
